front brake problem????

I have a 1976 Chev 1/2 ton and was replacing front brake caliper and brakes cause it was seized on driver's side, passenger side is good. The problem is all new caliber and brakes replaced but I can't bleed brakes as no fluid will come out of bleed screw. I unhooked hose right at caliber and no oil will come out there either while pushing on brake pedal. There is oil in brake booster, and brake pedal is hard after about two inches of depressing. What is wrong, I'm stumped?

Re: front brake problem????

I've had 3 '85 Chevrolet's with this issue. Every one was caused by the flex hose's.

Re: front brake problem????

I replaced both calipers and all the hard lines on my '81. Brakes would bleed and apply, but not release. Turns out the rubber hoses will collapse internally and act as a check valve. This allows fluid out to engage brakes, then won't allow the release of pressure...was a real head scratcher for awhile. Oh, and btw, the rubber hose looks perfectly fine from the outside when this happens.

Re: front brake problem????

hmmm hadn't seen that before, seen them bulge and crack ,a friend and i did his 99 grand prix GTP,as i described, his newly divorced exwife accedently put "more red oil in the brakes the guy said it was low, when she got gas".(knowing he was getting the car i bet,I think the daughter of a gm service tec would know that the"red oil" is for tranny".......those 99's have some crazy cross feed system.....not front to back it's front left/back right.......front right/back left....hadn't seen that before either(btw yes we replaced the wheel cylinders, calipers, hoses ,master cyclinder, and that crazy cross feed antilock system)and he still has the car ,lol not the wife

Re: front brake problem????

Previous owner had steel line from proportional valve to brake hose crimped closed. I don't have a clue why, but put on new steel line and oil reaches caliper now.
