I use a few good friends with strong backs. Beer helps too. Just saying

Re: how do you put a cab back on
a few people have shown their attachment you can buy or build that bolts on top of their engine hoist - it spans the inside of the roof. I also saw someone built brackets to bolt to the floor where the seat bolts up and picked up from there... Those seem like the safest way, but I just used 2x4s, 4x4s and ratchet straps to pull it off my trailer and onto the frame.

Re: how do you put a cab back on
If your doors are off... you can bolt 4 chains/straps to the floor at the cab mounting points and pick it up with a shop hoist/cherry picker
you can see here about to pick up the cab and move it over with the rest of the bodywork....before I realized I needed to spin either it or the other chassis around 1st.

Re: how do you put a cab back on
have a overhead chain hoist.. makes quick work of cab swaps and/or repairs.
if your working with limited options.. fridge full of beer + friends works well.

Re: how do you put a cab back on
two post lift with the arms under the rockers work like a charm. The first thing I used mine for was to change a body on a 03 suburban witch used to be like a 5 or 6 man job at my shop I did it myself while the others were at lunch. Jim

Re: how do you put a cab back on
I've swapped several cabs using a cherry picker with a 4x4 bolted to the top of the arm of the picker. I used the metal backer off old disk brake pads & put lag bolts into the 4x4 & bolted the other end of the metal to the arm of the picker where the chain bolts up. You can roll the windows down & use it with the doors on or with them off.
I learned the hard way to use wood or some other non skid material as the beam. |
