Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I don't remember her name off the top of my head, but there are only a few people that work in the local branch and she is the one I usually deal with. She is very polite and helpful, and she was not in the day I first went in. But I got what I was waiting for before I put any work into the truck, so tomorrow I get to start pulling it apart.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
This truck will be painted light gray. I plan to complete the bed and the rest of the rear half of the truck over the next several months. The bed wood and strips will be painted black as well as the frame. I'll use Por-15 on the frame and Por-15 + topcaot on the bed/strips.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Not today, but yesterday I got to spend the afternoon and evening pulling the front end apart on my truck. I started working on the cab/interior, but ran out of steam as I had spend the whole morning doing a lot of yardwork. I forgot to post this before I left for work today, so I don't have the pictures to upload on this thread. But if you want to see, i did update my build thread with the couple of pics I took when I was finished. Link to the thread is in my sig. Not bad for a few hours of solo work...
here's a photo of my end results for the day. Last edited by fryer1979; 05-23-2010 at 02:20 AM. Reason: added picture. |

Looking sharp DPowers...do you plan to paint the off-white circle in the front of the grille recess?

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
In an attempt to drive my '64 GMC a few miles from my shop to my house, so it could sit on a busy street over the sunny weekend, to get some good exposure, the fuel pump took a dump on me. A tow and a trip to the local auto parts store later, she was back in business.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I ordered my fuel cell and got the fuel line run and painted my heads to match the motor. Oh yea and bought a car trailer from a friend and helped a buddy rejet his carb for next weekends drag race.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
installed a camaro rear sway bar....
It looks cool so even if I am not king of the auto cross circuit, I am still happy with it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
You're going to love that bar, but you might need to put a larger bar on front depending on what you have. I was getting a lot of frame twist until I got a large enough bar up front to balance it out.
I have 65 that I just installed the IROC bar on the rear and 1.25" bar on the front off of a 1-Ton. Even with 70 series tires man does it handle. |

I am not sure of the exact size on my front bar but it is pretty stout, it came from a 87 suburban 3/4 ton. Glad to here that the rear makes a difference I am looking foward to driving it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I think you'll find you have a 1.15" bar it may work. The stock front bar on my 65 was 7/8". If you find the 1.15" bar still allows the frame to twist and if you have a pick your part junkyard near you look for a 1-Ton 73-88 chevy/gmc and pull the bar. I know when I got mine there were a lot of 3/4-ton and camper specials in the junkyard and the bars on them were not as large as the one I pulled from the 1-Ton.
The other thing I didn't think of... If your camaro bar is off of a non-IROC camaro it'll be a 7/8" bar instead of the 15/16" IROC post IROC bar. If that's the case then the 1.15" bar should be fine. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=387834 Last edited by Russ65C10; 05-23-2010 at 06:51 PM. Reason: additional information. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I started Thursday by removing the old wood bed to refinish it, then dad and uncle mike helped me install a new painless performance wire harness. I had a couple electrical problems but I really had no idea how bad it was. Glad my truck never caught on fire.

Was that one of those kits that was specially made for the truck, or one of their universal "hot rod" kits? How was it putting in? I ask because i will need to rewire my entire truck as well. |
