60 big window apache

i went and looked at this one today. he said it runs good but the battery is dead and it wouldn't crank.

$3000 obo. it's a 283 with a 3-speed manual, no power steering or brakes.

the rockers have been replaced at some point but the cab corners need some attention--not too bad though.

it needs a back glass, passenger door glass, and the windshield is foggy around the edges.

bumpers and grill are decent (not bent but pitting a little) and bed wood is rotten. it also needs a passenger door-rusted through on bottom.

do the beds on these fit right up against the cabs? it only has about 1/2 inch between the two.

i thought about offering him $1500 cash for it.

i found the right hood for $500--ouch!

Lot's of goodies on the truck. No pictures inside the cab or engine compartment?

Re: 60 big window apache

here are a couple.

i should've taken some myself.

it's nothing special under the hood or inside the cab.

the floor pan has a few rusty spots on the pass side but the drivers side seems ok.

the moulding looks pretty good on the drivers side but the pass side has some of it dented up and has sheet-metal screws in it.

Re: 60 big window apache

Sheet metal screws through the molding, costly to repair & replace. Nice truck.

Re: 60 big window apache

call me crazy but has anyone ever put one of these on a 90 model frame?

i have one that is still TBI w/700r4 and already lowered with vette rallys and new tires.

this 60 would look good dropped with all the newer comforts of the 90.

Re: 60 big window apache

This has been mentioned before......Forget about swapping the frames it isn't worth the effort if it is even possible. The '88 and newer frames are much wider and a different profile than the earlier frames. Just keep the '60 frame and upgrade the suspension (there's a thread specifically on that) and install the TBI 350 and 700R4 into the truck.

I have installed a '62 body onto a '74 frame, and I don't even recommend that unless you're building a lifted 4x4.

Re: 60 big window apache

I'd see if it runs first. Windshield is easily 500 dollars, plus seal, plus labor.

idk, 1500 sounds fair enough if it runs.

Safelites web site says they will do the windshield for under $300 installed. I checked when I got my '63 two months ago.

Not sure about the wrap around's for the 60-63 but my 66 was 140 installed. I had the new seal allready, it was 38 bucks i think, so yes safelight is cheap and they did a very good job on mine.
