Different steering colum 67-69 vs 70-72

I'm going to order a Grant steering wheel from Summit. The installation kit has a different part number for our trucks, one fits 61-69 and another for 70-73.

My truck is a 70 but it looks like the column may have been swapped before.

I was just wondering if there was a different column or is it just the steering wheel is different. Any info is appreciated, I just don't want to end up with the wrong part.

What does your shift indicator look like? The early column has a chrome indicator.

The shift indicator is black, the steering wheel is looks like a later model... not a typical 60's wheel.

So the columns did change in 70? I'm still a newbie trying to learn about these trucks.

Thanks.

indicator and selector is different but the column itself is the same 67/68 and some 69 have smaller diameter shift lever and shift lever colar has smaller hole to match.Steering wheels all bolt up the same .later model steering wheels work just fine also I have 90s model wheels in 2 of my 72s.had to modify horn button is all.

actually, they did change. I can't remember what exactly, but the grant kit for the older shaft won't work properly on a newer shaft. I think the black metal cover on the kit is a slightly larger diameter on the later kit.
I went through all this 12 years ago or so, so my memory is a tad fuzzy.
