Larger Brakes for S-10 Conversion

Is there any other model of larger brakes that are a straight bolt in for the s-10 conversion. Looking for low buck and need brakes, caliper, and rotors possibly off a used vehicle. I was told that you can get a wider stance by using the larger brakes. Need to make up 1.5"- 2.5". I did some research on extended a-arms but was told that it won't widen my stance it will just change the camber? Need help and pictures if possible.

'98+ S10 Blazer brakes are larger and will bolt up directly. This might only be for 2wd blazers though...

I think they require a different spindle up front, than the older s10's come with.

That is correct, they have dual pistons and the spindles actually are 2 inch lower than original older s-dimes.

The reason you are looking for a wider stance, is it because the S-10 is that much narrower than the stock width of our AD trucks?

First reason is because the s-10 frame is going under my 59 truck.
Second reason is because the rims I am going to use have a 6.5 backspacing.

Larger brakes won't make the tread width any wider. Sometimes what seems like a great and wonderful idea isn't so great and wonderful when reality strikes. I don't know of any manufacture selling longer/wider A frames for S-10 Chassis but if someone could figure that one out they could probably sell all they could make until the knockoffs hit the market.
Along with the 6-1/2 inch back spacing I suspect you are planning on running those big ugly "me too" wheels and they need more rotor to fill the blank space. I'd be checking to see what the hub and rotor for later model Camaros and Firebirds look like to see if they might fit the spindle and or have large enough rotors. Otherwise it is aftermarket stuff for second or third generation Camaros or Firebirds or the G metric cars.

I know this sounds like a crazy idea, but please hear me out. The 4WD S10 rear axle is a couple of inches wider than the 2WD. Is this also true for the front track? If yes, would it be possible to use the 4WD front suspension parts on a 2WD frame?

I am not sure if a 4x4 suspension will work. I looked at pugs project build and his suspension is totally different but maybe someone will chime in if I am wrong. As far as larger brakes texas56 used larger brakes and said it did make for a wider stance and we all know how awsome his truck is. I was just looking for a simple way of getting a wider stance but will end up using the camaro a-arms. No this won't be a bolt up I had to move the rear lower mounts back and weld on the upper camaro braket for the upper arms. As for the 6.5 backspacing, yeah I am going to use 20" alba rims because that is what I really want. LOL

The 4X front ends are torsion bar so that is out unless a guy started with a 4x chassis. I had a 86 S-10 Blazer chassis here that I thought about using and stretching with a section of tubing in the middle but decided that the area around the front crossmember had way too many brackets and widgets on it for me to want to clean it up at the time. The S-10 4x trucks are plentiful around here so I might still think about it for one of the other cabs I have.

The trick would be if the ball joints were the same but the extra width might come in the spindles and hubs rather than the A arms.

I agree with you. That is why I have been consulting with texas56 about his braking system. He said it definetly made for a wider stance using the bigger brakes.

Not really but they are very expensive where I live. I can get a whole spindel, rotor, a-arm, aand calipers setup for about $40. To me it seems alot safer than running spacer if I don't have too.

There is a way to put 4th gen camaro brakes on a s10. I am considering this at a later day. It will only widen it a little.
