Repop Doors
i am thinking of getting a passenger repop door, tri plus of course, since mine is shot on the inside at the bottom. any fitment issues? would it save time? i know they wont be perfect, but can i get close or will i be cutting the top off and rearranging the door pretty much.

The Tri-Plus passenger side doors actually fit well.. its the drivers side that needs a bit of tweaking on the window frame. (the curve on the window frame at the top rear comes real close the the rain gutter)

my buddy had repop on his 90 chevy truck and its all dented because the metal was so thin from him shutting the door like normal.. in my opinion if u can repair the rust id do so

Had a burb driver door and it was so thin I decided not to use it....Reskin one if you can.

I put Tri-plus doors on the old Blazer. I am now going to try to find some good repairable originals. If you are going to use re-pops go through and check all the spot welds; many of them have let go (after painting of course). One of them took some shimming at the hinges to fit properly. They are a little too thin. Good luck.

it took me 8 hours to skin my inners and outers at the bottom and that was since it was my first time ever skinning a door.. once u do one the second is so much easier

Since you live in Texas, a relatively rust free state, I would locate a nice original. I have heard more bad stories of aftermarket doors than I have good stories. Just my .02

The aftermarket doors blow. Yes, you can get them to fit fine and look good, but they're thin and flimsy as crap. Stay away, stay very very far away. They're the worst parts I've ever bought for my truck. My original doors will someday be repaired and going back on the truck.
I shut my passenger side door too hard (new door seals) and the mother flippin' door handle PUSHED INTO THE DOOR.

I was told by someone supposedly "in the know" that the stamps that put the doors together couldn't handle the thicker metal, so they used a thinner outer skin to put the door together.
I have a lower patch for a door skin and it's very thick and solid. I've also pushed on door skins at swap meets, they feel significantly thicker than the skins used on the complete doors. For anyone unsure, I would try to get your hands on the parts you wish to buy and decide for yourself.
