Is it worth the whole rocker panel?

So I have a replacement panel ready to install.
I started poking at mine and the only section that opened up was around the original pin hole.

Just a 2 X 3" patch weld in???
The rest of the rocker is solid.
Seems like a bit of work for such a small patch.

For a driver I think you'd be alright with a patch. I had the same situation on mine. Dime sized hole that I patched. So far so good.

Re: Is it worth the whole rocker panel?

I only like to replace what is necessary, since the factory steel is usually thicker and the bends are usually more crisp. I have replaced small sections like that before in the rockers of a Chevelle years ago which worked out well.
Here's my advise, cut the bad area out that you intend on replacing (1x3) then get one of those small pivoting mirrors and a light to look at the inner surfaces of the rocker. Make your decision on weather the patch will suffice or if you need to extend the repair further or even replace the whole rocker, based on what the mirror reveals. Rust is usually worse on the inner surfaces since the outer areas are better protected with paint and regular (sometimes) washing.

Re: Is it worth the whole rocker panel?

once fixed you could cover the area with a nice stainless plate or threshold cover...

I'd replace the whole panel. The outside, under the door doesn't look too healthy to me either, from the pics.
