New Seats

okay, i have had my '72 for nearly 6 years and i am tired of sitting too close to the steering wheel. i have the original bench seat and, of course, the seat back is way too thick. so...i want to get some nice comfy bucket seats with a back that is more "scooped out", if you will. any ideas on what i should look for? pics would be helpful! thanks...in advance

dave

Re: New Seats

A lot are using the 88 and up chevy truck seats. the backs are thinner and they are the same width so they fit nice too.

i used lowering springs, front and back. 2-1/2 drop in front and 4-inch drop in the back. up front is a 17X7 (4-inch backspace) with a 245-45 tire, and the back is 17X8 (4-inch backspace) with a 275-50 tire. bolt pattern is 5 on 5.

Re: New Seats

I used to have a set of buckets and console in my truck from a 92 SS 454 truck. They were OK but seemed to me like they sat about 2 or 3 inches too high. I recently removed them and installed these, from a 90 something Jeep Grand Cherokee. Comfortable and sit just about the right height. Center fold down arm rest is from a 90 something Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable. Steering wheel is from Astro Van
(pictures show armrest down, armrest up,and folded forward to accesscupholders)
