That looks good Joe. I'm gonna be covering the dash pad in the crew before it goes back in and I'm gonna make a cover for my blue and white truck at the same rme so it's ready when I get around to it. Good job guys

thanks Chuck!
so I have a question for you....
what do you use to fill in cracks before you cover them?
I haven't found anything yet that has the same "feel" as the stock covering, IE reacts the same to pressure, or doesn't show under the vinyl

So you don't need this one owner low mileage pad I pulled out of the trash for you now? Just kidding, I know you still want it!

That pad came out very nice. You'll be stylin' around the City now!

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

Joe, I take an air grinder and grind down the high spots. Then I take landau foam, same thing as vinyl top pad, and fill in the cracks. It comes 1/8 inch and 1/4 inch thick. It also sandable which is great. So one the cracks are filled I sand the foam down flush with the dash if any is sticking up. The foam is not as hard as the dash. It closed cell foam more lik a coozie you'd put a soda in. But once the dash is all filled and level, I take a piece of the 1/8 incj and glue it across the top from end to end and then I sand and feather the edges. Once it's covered in vinyl it's real hard to tell where it was cracked and where it wasn't

Very cool Chuck!
Thanks for the info!

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

I was thinking ya'll as Joe and Megan, and I would send them my core when the other dash got back. They are a little closer, but I would like to get my dash pad and door panels covered. I have a firly nice dash pad in my truck, and a not so nice one with one of those crappy plastic covers in storage. The crack in my dash bothers me. Well, that and it is red. that's the other problem.

I assume you have the 73-80 dash?
I don't have an extra one of those, I'll check pull-a-part next time I'm out there
