Re: yall ever done this?

Yep. I got busted playin with my dads mustang at the mall when i was like 17. I did this big ol burnout on the side road around the mall and I found out later (when I got home) mom and dad had gone out to longhorns and watched me do the whole thing... Dad knew the sound of his car and sure enough there it was.... with me in it... My mom saved me from death er uh dad that day... i hadda wash all the cars and wax em up good for a long while after that one.... lots of extra chores, but i lived.

Re: yall ever done this?

I was smoking out cars in a friends Powerstroke at stoplights and there was a truck right next to me at a stoplight and when the light turned green I smoked out the truck and when I got home my dad said " why the hell would you smoke your own father out". The worst one was when my dad had a rental car he was driving with my mom and they were in this long line of cars that were goin to slow for me so I passed them all up including my dad and my boss. I was yelled at by my parents and my boss

As far as stupid things car related, Dad was usually the one trying to get me to do it.

Re: yall ever done this?

Had a slick 80 El Camino when I was 16, dad owned a body shop, so naturally it was fresh paint and no dents. Me and a buddy, in our infinite drunken wisdom, decided to load a few bricks in the bed and one would drive and the other would ride in the bed and chunk them at mailboxes (lived out in the sticks). I started driving, my buddy would toss a brick. I'd hear a whack and then a clunk. Did this twice and I finally smartened up and told him that probably wasn't a great idea, so we went and just cruised.
Woke up the next morning and my dad is staring at my car and called me over. He was looking at the right rear wheel opening molding and told me something had hit it. His exact words, "looks like someone threw a brick at it".... Thank goodness it had just hit on the molding twice, but the fact he looked at it and could tell a brick did it, I about fell over.

I could rarely get away with anything being in a small (at the time) town. I'd spin the tires and dad would know before I got home or back to the shop. I literally had to go a few towns away to get away with anything really stupid. But then again, that is how I earned the "competition racing on a public roadway" ticket at age 16. That sucked.

Parents are not near as dumb as you thought when you were young. I'm going to have to beat that in to my son I fear.

Re: yall ever done this?

Mom and Dad took off to Lake Tahoe for the weekend, while they were gone I took Dads new 1968 Camaro Convertible out partying. Had a few to many beers and thought I was hot chit. Tried to get the thing up to 100 on a curvey road and lost it. Flipped and rolled the car, totaled it. They got the call to come home right away....man I put them thru hell....God Bless em.

Re: yall ever done this?

My dad had a 1978 chevy truck. Ugly as hell but it had a factory 454 in it. He threw a cam, carb, headers, on it and it ran like a raped ape! He left our neighbor hood one day and layed down a huge burnout and a cop came up behind him so he pulled over super fast and popped the hood. The cop walked up and my dad told him the throttle stuck and the cop let him go. Pretty good move!

Re: yall ever done this?

not the parents but the cops, I did a power brake in my truck and didn't see the cop that pulled up next to me as I was sitting on the wrong side of the road. The cool thing was, he simply waved the smoke out of his car and asked me to knock it off. all was good, of course my reply was no problem sir

Re: yall ever done this?

Dad's shop was back in an industrial park, with nice windy roads. I was hitting them too fast and lost it, spun the truck all the way around, broad-sided the curb and bounced it sideways into a field. The wheel that hit the curb first bent the rim in quite a bit. I changed it out and went on to the shop, telling Dad I'd hit a pothole and clipped a curb pretty bad. I doubt he believed me, but in came a delivery driver who'd seen it, he proceeded to ask if we were alright & explain in detail how cool my spin out was. I got "the look" from Dad. Mild punishment, mostly I wasn't allowed to buy new wheels til the end of summer so I was running around on a mismatched set.

Re: yall ever done this?

Oh yeah, I had a key made to my Stepdads '77 Chevy PU with a 454 in it. They went out of town for the weekend, I took it out and burned the tires down to the cords one night. When they pulled in, he noticed it right away, my mom told him I wasn't that stupid. He never said anything to me. Years later when we were sitting n a bar having a cold one, I confessed to it. He told me what mom had said , then he told me he knew better.

Re: yall ever done this?

Snuck out one night taking my dads 1996 extended cab, nothing special. as i pushed it halfway down the street to start it. I jump in and start it and forgot to flick on the lights right away. Little did i know that a cop had saw me turn to pull out the neighborhood and flick on the lights. Next thing i know i see the red and whites so i pull over and i get met with an officer gun drawn and adrenaline pumping. He had though i was a car thief. i explained to him my siituation, they called my parents and i got a pretty big lecture and punishment. moral of the story dont forget to turn on your lights.

Re: yall ever done this?

My parents are divorced, and mom had custody. When i went to my father's, [who lived on a dirt road in the country versus mom who lived it the city] he would let me and my step-brother drive the truck down the road to our grandparents' farm. We would stomp the gas and get it squirly and speed, etc.

When he gave his '95 silverado to me for my 15th b-day, and me and mom were going to drive it home... i pulled out of the driveway, put my foot in the oil pan. I got it nearly sideways and then kicked it up to 50 and she started screaming and slapping me. lol.

Another incident, [my dad's new family is really well off] my step-brother has dirt bikes, 4 wheelers, lifted golf cart, etc. we drove his lifted golf cart down to our grandparents farm. Grandma had 3 huge green houses that she used to supply the city of jacksonville with the flowers that hang it pots all along the streets of down town. My brother jumped into her little stock golf cart while i drove his lifted one and we raced/drifted around her green houses...

The yard was full of ruts, i slamed into the little golf cart after he layed on the breaks to much and turned completely sideways in front of me, denting the quarter panel on the little cart, i layed his lifted cart on the side once, and grandmas cart developed a really bad oil leak... we were inside watching t.v. when everyone got home and noticed the carts and ruts, and the stripped our bottoms off and beat us like we stole something. LOL.

we both think the consiqueces were worth it.

Dude i saw that work once, we were trying to get this old guy with a GTO Judge to do a burnout for us, (we were high school kids) in our small town of Springerville. This crazy old dude pulled out into the intersection and started whipping some of the most bad ass donuts i've ever seen to this day. A cop pulled up and watched him, all he did was get out and pop his hood, apparently he got away with it.

Re: yall ever done this?

Had rebuilt a 1980 cutlass w/ a 350 rocket motor(true sleeper w/ white walls and factory mags and a black cherry metallic paintjob) when i was 20.We took the car for a joyride and took the plates from my 84 t bird n put them on the cutlass.Thru the whole thing my buddy was videotaping this entire joyride.Well i did a burnout outside the park where we were and some jackass threw a water bottle at my car.Well we got pissed and he was in his jeep waving us to come on the side of him.Well we were driving and a lil old lady was crossing the street w/ some frozen lemonade and we missed her n her lemonade went flying.Well needless to say the throttle got stuck and the car over heated. The idiot left in his jeep w/ his g/f.Well thru all this the tape is still rolling. But the friend put the lens cap on but forgot to shut it off so its still rolling, alot of swearing and so on.But so we watched it on my vcr at home and i forgot to take it out.Well dad comes home n says oh i never seen this tape before and wouldnt you know it he watched the entire thing.OH I WAS SCREWED.... Well needless to say i was forced to sell that cutlass after that.I was upset but i did what he wanted.

thanks
pat
