Gas tank carpet & paper board
Does anyone have the original carpet & heavy paper board that cover the fuel tank on 67-72 bucket seat trucks, I think they were the same through all 6 years, mine is a 1968
I want to use it as a template to make an exact reproduction. If you have this please let me know your price$ |

I am planning on using a reproduction carpet. Do you know if the cardboard is needed to install the carpet? Or, do you use the carpet instead of the cardboard?

I think that the carpet is glued to the heavy paper board, If you dont use the board you have to glue the carpet to the tank. I like to stay as factory original as I can. Its part of the fun to me, after more than 40 years of different owners removing original parts then adding new stuff, and changing other things around I like to put it all back in order. |

Re: Gas tank carpet & paper board
The reproduction is NOT the same as original, and the the original did attach to aback type board to help hold shape. I made the mistake of buying reproduction for my 71 after I ripped out the original and destroyed the template to make a correct one. I actually removed the plastic tabs from the repop and then reused the screws and grommets to retain the new carpet as original. You might contact Paul Duncan and see if he or Jason has an original unit they could photo and get diminsions off of for you. Paul is a great guy and is willing to help if he has something that will improve these trucks.
