Wheels make all the difference in the world!

Wheels and tires bought at auction for $25. Still need to get the correct lug nuts, but my 9 y/o son wanted to see them on his truck!

Not sure if the caps will fit over the rear hubs or not, but we will find out soon.

I could have, but I hate split rims, so that would have made it a waste of paint!

Most 9 year olds have a truck they can put in their pocket. I'm jealous, and I'm 62!

Re: Wheels make all the difference in the world!

Great story about the truck.....

My Dad is an excavator, and was doing some work for a guy when he saw the truck sitting in a corral dusty as heck. He asked the guy if he wanted to get rid of it and the guy said "get it out of my sight and you can have it for $500". Deal done, and he trailered it home the next day.

When he was cleaning all the junk out of it a few days later, he found a very old registration in the glove box. The registration was in his uncle's name!! He had bought the truck new, and sold it to this guy years and years ago before he died, and it had sat in the corral for who knows how long. So my Dad was the third owner! He swears that he has pictures of him and that truck in the early 70's helping his uncle tear down a barn.

My son had been bugging him from the day he saw it to sell it to him because he wanted to fix it up for his first vehicle. We towed it to my house when my parents moved closer to town, so it's been here ever since. According to my Dad, it's my sons truck now. Needless to say he's a little psyched!

Hey Bob....Bryce now has his own truck...how cool is that!

Hope all is well.

Is that the truck that was in your Dad's barn the last time I was up there?

He's pretty stoked Larry. He's already making a parts list. Yep, that's the one you saw.

Re: Wheels make all the difference in the world!

Here's how Dad found it, and a little after he cleaned it up some. All the dirt on the engine it what was left after hitting it with an air hose! Took the pressure washer to get the rest off. And that dash pad.... original, no cracks, not faded, and squishy soft! I guess the layer of dirt must have saved it!

Re: Wheels make all the difference in the world!

That was a steal. I have seen those wheels go for $250 easy around here. If it has a Dana 60 you will need dually caps for the rear. Looks good.

Dually caps, perfect! We were noticing that the rears didn't sit flush on the wheel. I was wondering what we would do. Thanks!

Great story about the truck... and the wheels must be the second-best $25 you ever spent!
