Question Pre-heater hose question

I'm driving a 68 C10/250/L6. On top of the exhaust manifold is a small square plate with about 1.5 inch hole in it. This is supposed to be where the preheater hose connects, with the other end connected to the air breather horn. I'm using an aftermarket "flex hose". Is there supposed to be some sort of flange associated with the plate to which the hose is slipped over, or was the original hose slotted some how and "popped" in place?

Any suggestions for a work around?

Thanks in advance,
Joe

If memory serves me right, the original "hose" was a steel pipe that fitted into the plate on the manifold and over the tube on the snorkel.

May those who love us, love us, any of those who do not love us, may God turn their hearts.
And if God is unable to turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles so we may know them by their limping.

A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.
