Re: Project Zeus

Just a little update. I have the body wok done on the box, I am going to pick up another parts truck for the engine and wire harness. Its a 87 K2500, I really want a FI engine so I am going to pursure it.

I am definately going to upgrade to the 91 blazer front end. I will get some pics up of the progress on te box.

I am also thinking of a 2 tone pain job, white with a metallic grey lower.

Still tossing that thought around. Main color will definately be white though.

Re: Project Zeus

I picked up the other parts truck, it is a 350 tbi, 400, and np208. I bought a building and will be moving my buisene in the next month or so, so I will not be working on the truck for a bit. Just waiting on some more primer for the box, it needs another coat, and some more blocking then it should be ready for sealer then paint.

Next I plan on body working the cab, then the chassis, and such.

Re: Project Zeus

Thanks,

I cant wait til this thing starts going back together, I was hoping to have it done in a year, but that was a big goal I couldnt achieve. I own/operate my owne repair shop and I am remodeling my house too, and now I bought a building and will be moving the buisness...wish there was more time to devote to this project.

Re: Project Zeus

Picked up my chassis from Blink today, got it back to NY and will post some pics of it tomarrow. I need to get the other truck stripped down and ready for the new, uhh previous, owner to come and get it. As soon as I make room in the shop this thing will get started.

Gonna order the stainless brake lines on Monday, and some undercoating to protect this frame from the harsh winters up here.

Re: Project Zeus

Ok for those that are actually following the build, I have started to under coat the frame, I have the new stainless brake lines and a new proportioning valve in my hand, just need to finish the undercoating.

I have the 87 TBI engine out of the donor truck, will be tearing that down soon, possible 383 stroker, with stock heads and rv cam for now, then upgrade to the Edlebrock TBI kit.

Trans TH400 will be rebuild with HD parts for the abuse of plowing/hauling.

I havent done any body work to the cab. I am gathering parts all the time so this should go well as things roll in.

Also gonna go with a poly tank instead of the metal tank.

I will post up some pictures of all the newly aquired stuff soon.

Re: Project Zeus

Looks like the build is going good, just need to get motivated. I sent you a pm with some questions I had about your truck. Now that you have a building you should be getting all kinds of work done on the truck I know you said you were a small business owner so I am sure you have your hands full!

Re: Project Zeus

The build is way slow right now. I m shifting gears a little, since this thing has tuned into a tribute build Im gonna take my time do it right, probly over do it. So with that being said I am focusing on my 86 Grand National its at the point where it just needs paint now and I would like something nice to take to car shows. I just finished restoring a 73 Monte Carlo for a good friend of mine and he has no one to go to the shows with.

I am in the process of fixing the rust in the cab, filling in all the hoes the PO drilled in it, and repairing the 2 front body mounts. With any luch the cab will meet the chassis befor winter sets in.

Re: Project Zeus

Nope not much going on with it, I was plowing with the truck this winter, brakes went out, hit a tree, cab came off of frame. I wound up picking up a 97 Yukon, put a new Plow on that so I may liquidate all my square body stuff.

I may also just put this project on the back burner for a while, not sure what to do. After losing my brother, who was helping me with this resto, I lost all ambition to do it, just too many memories.

Re: Project Zeus

Sorry to hear that man, that is a major let down. Just set it aside for a while and start back at it when you get the motivation.

Re: Project Zeus

I may or may not do that, a good friend of mine has a 76 C3500 dully he wants to do a 4wd conversion on so I may let him buy the parts off of me and make something out of it.

It would have been, or may still be, a nice project for me to do someday, but being a full time owner/operator of my own repair shop its pretty hard to motivate myself to work on this truck too. But not having my brother here to help makes it all that much harder.

I have moved it out of the shop and covered it up for the time being until I can make a decsison.

Re: Project Zeus

I am not working on it. I think Im going to sell it, just too many painful memories that I have pushed it outside. I had high hopes but without my brother to help they kinda fizzled out.

I will be sticking around as I have tons of love for these old squares, just not this particular 1. I picked up a 97 Yukon which I am fixing some stuff on now, so there will probly be no more work done on the 85.
