Re: Vapor lock issues.
Ok havent pulled the carb yet. I have been messing around with the metering valves again and it is running a lot better. Its still bogging down but not too bad.

Re: Vapor lock issues.
Ok pulled the plugs. Put the old ones back in. Adjusted the air metering screws back to where they were originally set and she runs like a bat out of hell again. Thenew plugs which I had thought were the wrong plugs were the problem. Truck idles just fine and runs through the rpms just fine. Now I am sure it may have been a combination of all the things I changed to make it run right but ultimately it was the plugs. Im glad because I was not looking forward to rebuilding the carb.
Thanks for all the help yall.

Re: Vapor lock issues.
Well ok. Here we go again. Took off in the truck with my son a few hours later Got about 2 miles down the road and it started to spit and sputter again. Its actually running like its not running on all cylinders.
The difference from this morning and this afternoon was it was 85 this morning and almost a 100 when it started happening again. Which it has been close to 100 everday I have been working on it. So it seems like it is heat related. I checked last night to see if my plug wires were bad but I didnt see any arching. Maybe its bad plug wires or bad ignition module in the hei distributor or hell maybe a blown head gasket?? But I dont have water in the oil or vice versa. Oh yeah when I rev it up now it puts off a black exhaust smoke.

Re: Vapor lock issues.
Ok I think I have this thing licked once again. Bad plug wire. About the only thing I have not changed on the truck. Wires are only about 6 months old and this truck only gets driven about twice a week.
