59 firewall & steps question ?
i m getting ready to replace my 59 gmc firewall w/ a new repop one plus the steps w/ the rockers made on them ,has anybody used the repop firewall and steps ? where do i start ? when i drill the spot welds out of firewall will the body try to distortor drop ? also on the steps ,they are all there -some rust through/just need to replace to look nice thanks guys

If your replacing the firewall while the cab is still bolted to the frame then you should have minimal distortion. If its off the frame then you should brace the front area of the cab. Step are are easy cut out the main area with a torch or saw then trim out the spot welded areas and replace the step

There is a bit designed to remove the spot weld without removing alot of material. It looks like an end mill bit with a very small drill bit in the center, I will really have to look hard to find mine & post a pic for you. They are very handy for spot weld removal.
