Which mounts to use

I have read through all the threads on the different LS mounts, but am still curious which ones I can use without modification for the AC compressor. I am wanting to get this engine in as painlessly as possible.

Re: Which mounts to use

I think I am going to go with #3, he shows how it wont interfere with the AC bracket in the thread...

Re: Which mounts to use

They way I d\had to do it was to use #2 on the drivers side, and use #3 on the passenger side. You will either need to move the engine stand back 2", or add an extension to the stand and move the rubber mount back.

I don't know of any other way to do it with the OEM stands. If you want to spend the cash you can go with aftermarket stands/mounts. But moving the stand back is probably the easiest way without needing to do any welding.

Re: Which mounts to use

ON horsepowertv today they used a set of new mount brackets made by hooker that located the ls engine so it would line up with stock transmission mount location etc.

Re: Which mounts to use

I used stock late model LS2 mounts. It takes some fabrication but they are nice hydraulic mounts and they are out of the way of exhaust manifolds, or headers, and the low mount AC compressor. I located the engine 1" forward and 5/8" higher than the original 283.

Here is the thread:

Re: Which mounts to use

I'm having a hard time too. I want to keep the LS a/c compressor, and use the 72 engine stands, and still use the 72 shroud with LS clutch fan.

Re: Which mounts to use

I think I might just try to fabricate up some new towers from my frame and use the stock Yukon mounts. They sent them with my engine so it's worth a shot. It will be cheaper that way, we will see how it works out.
