From rust to?

The picture below is a picture of the bed that was on the Circuit Rider when I purchased her in 2000. Needless to say the bed was replaced. Then the thought came to me...lets see some of your worst rust nightmares.

Re: From rust to?

The reason for this post is to give others ideas to what can be fixed when it comes to rust?

Re: From rust to?

What is this "rust" thing you speak of?

Out here in Cali we don't see too many eaten to that extent... unless they came from another state!

Re: From rust to?

I'd post pics of my bird, but I don't want to start crying again...

My truck had very little rust (Texas then South Carolina truck). I am from NY though, so I've seen my share of rotten trucks. Yuk. My little s10 is 11 years old and looks brand new underneath, I love the south

Re: From rust to?

These aren't very detailed pictures. This is the very first externally noticable welding job I did after I purchased a welding machine.

Folks that still have their original rockers should note that there is no paint inside of the factory rockers. They WILL rust. It may take longer in the driest parts of the desert but they are all destined to look like my before shot some day.

Modern cars have much better systems to prevent this but back when these were made the steel wasn't galvanized and if you couldn't hit it with paint as it came down the line, it didn't get paint.

Long story short, after you put your new rockers on, get some paint or epoxy primer in there!
