Going to look at this today

http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/1929602431.html

I am going to go look at this today after work, looks like a great deal. I might have to join the 1 ton club after this weekend.

Looks good.
You're going to need that 150 gallon fuel tank!

yes looks like a great deal. If you get it, what are your plans for it, besides using it to store gas? lol

Re: Going to look at this today

Just talked with the guy, it has about 1000 miles on the new 454 the same on the Turbo 400, converted the throttle body injection over to a 2 barrel Holley, gets like 19mpg on the highway now. He used to pull his race car with the truck and just purchased a newer model extended cab dually to replace this one. My plans would just like I did with my 3/4 ton I have, make it a nice driver, use it to pull my camper, and general other truck duties, may even have to sell the 3/4 ton, but that would be a tough one, been with me now for about 13 years.

Are all the rust free and clean squares in Texas?

Nice truck that would go for a lot more here in the midwest in that condition.

150 gallon fuel tank??? Did the math at the current $2.699 per gallon here tonight at the local fuel depot...a fill-up in that would run around $404! Hope it never needs one.

Re: Going to look at this today

For the price and condition, this is a steal. But I had a 73 C20 454/400 and the best I got on the highway was 12 mpg (with no A/C). If mpg is important to your purchase decision, then I would top off a tank and take it out on the freeway to validate the 19 mpg claim - assuming you can isolate the fuel consumption to one specific tank.

No, we allotted a few to Arizona, California, and Colorado. We kept the rest.

Two barrel or not, we all know ain't a chance in hell that 454 is getting 19mpg, especially with the T400. Regardless of MPG it's still a nice truck at what appears to be a really good price.

Re: Going to look at this today

I agree 19 MPG would be an incredible feat. Hopefully he is telling the truth and we're missing something out of the equation...maybe he has a Gear Vendors in it or something. Good luck with the purchase!

Re: Going to look at this today

Nice truck!!! Good price. You and family will love it---
But, be leary of the advertised mileage, until proven.
We used a pampered '97, crewcab, dually, auto, 454, just like it except, ours was still fuel injected to pull an 8500# bumper pull trailer for several years. Your right, it will pull or anything you can pile on it. Kept a log on it with all repairs and honest fuel mileage. Never drove it over 65mph loaded or empty.
Avg. mileage, 10-11 empty, 8 loaded or towing.
Wish We still had the truck, but downsized truck and trailer due to getting older.
Good luck and enjoy.

Re: Going to look at this today

Looked at the truck, very nice but decided against it, for right now just can't spend that money, and it is killing me. Anyone one in the Houston area looking for a clean crew cab I would jump on this one.

[QUOTE=RuralRoute C-30;4172511]Are all the rust free and clean squares in Texas?

No .... they are also in dry southern Cally. I know - I bought one!!

Yes .... Tx. has a overabundance of rust free square body trucks. I just don't have enough space of $$ to house them all in my back yard.
