Re: 70 w/ 84 brake booster and master cylinder
Here's what I did. I went to the salvage yard and picked up a booster /mc from a 90 something Suburban type vehicle(one with a plastic reservoir),might have been an extended cab pickup-I don't remember now.At the time my truck had a 3 speed column shift. I knocked out the old studs that the factory manual brake m/c was bolted to. I had to open up the center hole that the push rod goes thru to move it up a little, and the bolt pattern on the late model booster was different so I had to redrill the 2 bottom holes. Then I bolted the booster flush to the firewall. I had to cut the rod going to the pedal and weld my original clevice to it to attach it to my brake pedal, but it worked perfect. Then, when I swapped out the transmission to an automatic,I discovered the bigger booster interfered with the auto trans shift linkage,so I made another trip to the salvage yard and picked up a small diameter booster from an S10 Blazer. I have excellent brakes, one of the best mods I've made to my truck-next to power steering
