72 ignition ring

I cant seem to get the ring around the key ignition to turn out. I thought it would just unscrew, but it stops towards the end of thread. Any ideas?

Re: 72 ignition ring

The lock cylinder has to be removed befor the "ring" will come off. If you have the key for the cylinder then the cylinder can be removed easily. If you don't have the key then a lock smith will be needed or the cylinder will need to be drilled out.

Re: 72 ignition ring

Thanks Jim!

Got it LockDoc! Thanks! I have a set of door/ignition/glove cylinders on the way...I'll wait and replace them all...

The doors currently do not have locks. Can you point me to a kit/instructions to add locks to the doors? As I'll have the cylinders...

Everything you need should come with the lock cylinders. All you will need is the actuators (called pawls),that attach to the back of the lock cylinder and the clips to hold the lock cylinders in the doors.
