Power steering scratch when fully extended?

I can't for the life of me remember what the deal is when this happens, and I couldn't find it using the search. When I crank the wheel all the way to max the PS pump gives off a terrible scratch/grind sound. Everything is fine with the system but this grinds my nerves. What is this???

Re: Power steering scratch when fully extended?

its normal, and you shouldn't hold it at the full lock. This is true on ALL power steering systems.
