Automatic Transmission Line Routing
I have a recently acquired 1973 K20 long bed with a 350/350TH. Today I removed the starter and had a heck of a time, mainly due to the 2 transmission hard lines that run from the trans up to the radiator. From what I remember, these are supposed to be ABOVE the starter and route right near the engine oil pan, am I correct? I had to wrestle the starter between the front driveshaft and the 2 tranny lines to drop it.
These lines have been bent/modified by the previous owner and run below the starter. I'm not sure this is the way they are supposed to go. Anyone have a photo or can anyone offer some advice? Thanks in advance. M Last edited by TheWhiteElephant; 09-27-2010 at 10:24 PM. |

Re: Automatic Transmission Line Routing
My suggestion is to install stainless steel braided lines. You can bend them and route them as necessary. I have a set on my truck.
The lines go around the tranny and bolt down/route near the oil pan. The oil pan should have a clip to hold the lines. |

Re: Automatic Transmission Line Routing
Thanks, I really appreciate that. I actually thought about installing SS lines. The ones that you have, is the entire line stainless and bendable? Bending them would really be nice as I could route them just the way I want to.
