Cool WIW 1/2 ton CCSB

Trying to figure out the value of my square body 1/2 ton crew cab short bed with a 89-91 front clip.
It has a pretty fresh (@30k miles) 350 crate motor with TBI, a recently rebuilt 700R-4 trans (@5K miles), rebuilt 10 bolt with 3.73's from a 1995 chevy truck (driveshaft professionally shortened and balanced).
It is mechanically sound. Interior is good and matches from a '89 burb, needs the headliner installed, with power windows and locks. Lowered @ 5"/7". 3" spindles and a coil cut off the springs in the front and flipped with notches in the rear. I have installed a 32 gallon 'burb tank in the rear. Nice cold A/C (new compressor and condensor), tilt wheel, and cruise control. Body is pretty straight, no rust, but it needs paint. What do you guys think on value?
Here is a pic
It has a burb bumper on it now

Pics of the interior while I was installing it

And the dash my wife covered

Re: WIW 1/2 ton CCSB

I would LOVE to have it, however like everyone, no $.

I have noticed that it seems that unless it "looks" pretty no one wants it, sad in my opinion, you have put alot in your truck in time, money and knowlege, but most might think that since it isnt "stock"' they are leary.

I have seen a truck like your truck in CL here in DFW, I cant remember what the price was but it was on there for a little while.

Let me know what you decide, also would you post some interior pics, might make a difference for someone.

I hate to be the one to tell you Joe, but it isn't worth much at all. however, being the good friend that I am, I will take it off of your hands so you don't have to look at it anymore.

Honestly, I think location has a lot to do with it. Wasn't there one in OK that was up for $3500 or so? If you do decide to let it go, I might be a player for it, depending on price.

Thanks
I'll try to post some more pics this evening....I'm out of town working so I'm limited to what I have on my phone.

I know of one in DFW that sold for $3500 in a matter of minutes after it was posted on craigslist, that tells me he wasn't asking enough
There is one currently for sale in Duncan for $4500.
I dunno if I'd let it go for $4500. I'm really wanting a 4x4 and I'm weighing the options, sell it and buy a 4x4 or convert it over. I love the truck so I just don't know......
I have thought about throwing it on craigslist for $6000 to just see what happens. If I do sell it, I'm gonna do sone body work and get it all in sealer first.
Thanks for the input guys!!!!

I'd say in the 4500 to 5500 range seems about correct. Like was mentioned, it may be hard to get someone to go much more because it isn't a completed or painted project.

No problem. Tooo bad you don't want a shortie 02 truck in stead of a 4x4.

Re: WIW 1/2 ton CCSB

Jo,

The one in Duncan is the one I am thinking about, it needs alot of interior work along with exhaust so it isnt even a running driving truck like yours. I wouldnt pay $4500 for that one, maybe $3k if I had it. The thing about selling bigger ticket items on CL is someone just has to be looking for that exact thing in order for them to pay " what its worth" to the seller. I would be flexible with your price if you do decide to sell it like that.

BTW, if it were me, I would just convert it and continue to enjoy.

Re: WIW 1/2 ton CCSB

Thanks Clyde!
One of the members here actually went and looked at the one in Duncan, he said he would have given $3000 for it. It didn't run very well and the trans wouldn't shift out of second, so it definitely needs some work.

I really like my truck, I'm pretty sure I'm keeping it.
Maybe 4x4 conversion will be phase III, after phase II (paint), followed by phase IV (LS power!)

Re: WIW 1/2 ton CCSB

Glad you are looking at keeping it Joe. You have a lot of time in the ole girl and have done wonders too her. Just keep massaging here till you get where you want her, including 4x4.

Kinda like one of them movie stars, just keep going back to the surgeon to refine the look.

Re: WIW 1/2 ton CCSB

Do it, the 5.3's are pretty cheap unless you want one with less than 10K miles or something. I lucked out, mine was supposed to be an 07, but when I got it it said 2005, I called LKQ and *****ed, they refunded me $200, so the motor cost me $450.00 and it had 9K miles on it ( no one wants a 4.8 I guess) I have the 4l60e trans also and it runs and drives soooo nice. Knowing what I know now, I wish I would have done a few things different but I was really tight on my budget and I was only able to work on it every other weekend and some nights. it took me 7 months to finish.

I would do it again and again, if you decide, let me know, i would be glad to help in anyway I could.

Righ on!
So you paid $650 for it originally???
And it's a 4.8?
Did it come with everything?
Smoking deal made even better with the refund.
I want to put a 4.8L in the '66 and a 5.3L in the crew.

Re: WIW 1/2 ton CCSB

There ya go, now I warped you properly. yes 4.8L

Yes I got it from North Texas LKQ and it cost 650.00 It had everything but the harness, PCM and Alternator. I could have gotten them but I already bought a motor with all that before and it turned out to be a boat anchor so I sent the boat anchor back.

Right now 2008 4.8 is going for 800 with 10K miles. Now the demand is up I see. The 5.3's are going for 1K-1500.00 depending on mileage and this is also without accessories, you would need to call and ask.

2005 4.8 with 100K runs $400.

Re: WIW 1/2 ton CCSB

I had found a complete 5.3 takeout with 125K for $1500. That should be everything needed, such as accessories, wiring, trans, TAC, etc. It sounded a little miley to me, so I am holding out for one with a little lower mileage. Hopefully soon, though. 2005 year model, out of an Avalanche.
