Where is a good place to look for an engine rebuild kit for an '84 inline 6 250ci 4.1L?

Try Northern Auto Parts
They have a lot of replacement parts that are high quality at discount prices. I've had good luck with them in the past.

i dont know if Jasper sells rebuild kits or they just rebuild engines but they make a great motor with a good warranty

whats your intention with the rebuild? stock? cheap? performance? heavy duty? etc...
your best bet is a good local machine shop.. they'll use quality parts usually at a decent price.. theres always summit, jegs, PAW, kragen, napa, etc.... clevite bearings, melling oil pump, sealed performance or federal mogul or whoever rings, fel pro gaskets,.. if you need a new cam & lifters, any brand will do. machine shops are a good place to buy stock cam & lifters in my opinion (there, or summit) .. some good brass freeze plugs.. joe shmoe true roller timing set if you are going overbore and need new pistons well I dont know I would just shop around.. what else is there? You really should have all the machine work done first so you know what size bearings, etc to order mike |

I got my motor from a local machine shop. $1200 out the door with a 4 year/45k mile warranty.
 It's advertised to put out 300bhp with the carb/intake/headers I got.

Sorry it took so long to reply.
Thanks for the input. Mike, I plan on keeping the truck stock. It's going to be used for short in town runs to the lumber yards. I'm looking for the cheapest route to a running truck and it has to pass ohio's e-check. My brother-in-law is probably going to be the one rebuilding the engine. He said he can do the boring and honing. I did find a price for a complete (?) kit that'll run about $450 and that is half the price of a rebuilt engine or by having the work done from a local machine shop. I sure wish I knew more about rebuilding, but I'm too cheap to buy a book or video. Tim
