230 to ?? Swap

Is there anything I can swap my 230 6-Cylinder with that won't require me to move the transmission or change the drive shaft? I'm OK with swapping engine mounts but want the cheapest option for now.

Re: 230 to ?? Swap

You could take a 350 and lower it into place and mate up to the transmission and then let the engine settle into the frame and drill new holes for the motor mount towers.

That is what I did when I went from a 350 to a 454.

Of course a 350 will need to have a fan shroud.

Yeah I would say the 350 is about the largest I would go. The 402 may be a little more pain in the butt. In your case, the bigger, the more painful transfer.

You can bolt a SB to your existing 230 mounts and bellhousing and you won't have to move anything else. This was the stock setup on 63-66 trucks.
