Parking brake assembly relocation
Tried a search but couldn't get any hits. I have a 65 2wd short bed fleet-side and have installed a 4l80e/ls3. Because of the extra length of the trans, I need to relocate my parking brake cross member assembly, or fabricate something else. Anyone done the same thing? Any after-market kits? Any help, suggestions, plans, photos, appreciated.

Re: Parking brake assembly relocation
Post #68 shows Lakeroadster's solution, although this may not help if you're keeping a bench seat:

Re: Parking brake assembly relocation
Check out my build thread. I fabricated a new crossmember for my 700r4 and fabbed up a new parking brake assembly by utilizing many of the stock parts.

Re: Parking brake assembly relocation
I'm keeping the bench seats, so floor mount brake lever is out. I like dlisabeth fabrication idea. Thanks for the responses.

Re: Parking brake assembly relocation
The other option is the 1966 and later style e-brake system.
Tho', I do not know for sure if it will work on your '62. I've read/been told the ebrake system was the same from 1960-1965. I have a '65 c10 and all of the pieces of the ebrake system were gone, so I went with the 1966 and later deal. some shots of my brakes on my '65. Poke around on my truck site above, there are some more pics. Good luck. -W update : this article of mine about the 1966 and later style ebrake cable system is now on the forums, here. Re: Parking brake assembly relocation
I'm faced with the exact problem. I found this link about installing a pedal brake:

Re: Parking brake assembly relocation
Ah, so you lowered it down. That's what a lot of folks do, it works good as I understand it!
Very nice work! -W |

Re: Parking brake assembly relocation
Yes, just lowered it. Made it a floating bridge. Solid as a rock and works great.
