5.3 LS motor
Well looks like I am goign to get a wrecked 1500 chevy 2003 i think with a 5.3L LS motor in it. its a 4x4 so will have to get a new tranny but at least $800 for whole truck is a good deal. Just the motor alone is worth that.
Will be able to salvage some parts off of the truck and make some cash off them and then scrap the rest of the truck and make even more cash so my motor is not going to cost me much... so excited. Now the shop need to hurry up and get finished up so the 69 C10 can get put in there out of the garage. |

Re: 5.3 LS motor
You should still be able to use the 4x4 tranny...You'll just need to change out the tail shaft and tail housing. I'm pretty sure. Maybe someone else will chime in.....

Re: 5.3 LS motor
Tail shaft and housing is true, but you need to tear down the entire trans to replace the shaft.

Re: 5.3 LS motor
unless you can do the upgrade to the trans yourself, I would sell the trans and go with a 700r4

Re: 5.3 LS motor
You think the input shafts are different (did you mean output/tailshaft)? Inputs should be the same... I know the tail shafts are different and I know that the tranny has to be pulled apart inable to get to the tail shaft. But I have a hard time to put a used tranny in unless it is low, low miles. So during rebuild your that far in any ways. I have no idea what a shop would charge to swap it our for you. I'm pretty lucky that my father has been a GM tranny guy for 27 Years.
