Looking for NEW radiator
I'm looking for a radiator for 67-72 truck. I'd like NEW and 3 or 4 core with trans cooler connections.
And, I've currently got 2 core in the truck so I believe I will need new top brackets, or maybe just new top and bottom rubber (???). If so, I'll be looking for those as well since I've got 6-cyl 2-core in there now. Please PM with price shipped to 02081. Also please let me know what kind of warranty the radiator has, and any other things about it you think I should know. Thanks in advance, Kenneth

Well, I recently purchased a 4 core from O'Reilly Auto Parts for $210. Didn't have a '71 so I just replaced it with a '72. Looked like it was good quality, not some piece of s*@t. Fit perfectly except for one thing. You might have to change the routing of the heater hose from the radiator (old one) to the top of the water pump (no fitting on new radiator to accomodate the heater hose). But this was no big deal.

Radiator.com has new 4 cores for around $150 with a lifetime warrenty. You'll need new upper and lower brackets & pads to step up to the 4 core. I just bought a new 4 core and I'm painted the new brackets last night. The brackets and pads were around $70 with WA sales tax & I bought them at PickupsNW which is just up the road from me so I didn't pay any shipping. I think you can get the brackets cheaper elseware. I bought the radiator from my father (owns a auto parts store in Oregon and his cost was the same as Radiator.com). It is a Go/Dan radiator.

That is one reason I decided to get the radiator from my father - I knew he'd get me the right one. I had radiator.com call me and the guy confirmed that it was a 4 core for $150ish. On their first site, I put in years 69-72 and got a different price each time. I know there are seveal board members who have purchased radiators from them,, someone should be able tell you if they got the right thing...

Got 1 on ebay about a month ago. From radiator doctor. Paid 158.00ish including shipping for a 4 core. Had it the next day. If you have a 2 core, I believe the retainers are the same as a 3 core. If you go with a 4 core, the retainers are different (both upper and lower). Got mine from Wes on this board. He will do you right. Lifetime warranty on radiator.

I got mine, a new 4 core, from radiator.com. Somewhere around $150 or so as I remember. Someone, I thought Wes, but I might be wrong, posted a recipe of what to ask for to get the best price. If you do a search on radiator.com you can probably find it. On the other hand, it was noted that for around the same price it is possible to get a new radiator from your local parts store.

So I finally gave in and called them a few minutes ago... "$179 with lifetime warranty for the _3_ core" "$25 shipping, because they are in limited supply" (whatever that means) and when I mentioned that several people on this board said they bought for $150 he said... "We've NEVER sold this radiator for $150, and the 4 core has NEVER been less than $200" and then told me that if I wanted it with only a 1 year warranty, he'd sell it to me for $150. Hmmm... NEVER (unless I buy, at which point he can't say NEVER again). In any case, I think I'm still looking. Anyone else out there??? Thanks, Kenneth

I found a 4 core on the web for 166.88 with lifetime warranty and free shipping. www.radiatorbarn.com They don't have a big block listed in their engine choices, but 350 with A/C got you the 4 core.

It's here! It came yesterday (6-26, ordered 6-23). It was boxed well and came out without a scratch, dent, or ding. All the vanes are straight too. It looks solid and the welds are very clean. I won't be able to install it until I can wrangle up some 4-row brackets and rubber. anyone got any spares??
Obviously it has to actually work, but based on my first impression, I'd say www.radiatorbarn.com did well. Kenneth
