stock radio repairs???
Anyone ever attempt to fix a g m stock radio? Mine looks great but did not work when I bought truck. Thought someone might aim me in a direction to look at. Just looking to listen to some news and such. Don't want to cover up too many rattles, they are MUSIC to me. Gary

Re: stock radio repairs???
makin sure the case has a good ground, the antenna connection is bright and shiny, trying another known good speaker and spraying the tuner control real good with tuner lube cleaner(radio shack)// is a first step to determine if it works

Re: stock radio repairs???
I might be able to help with this one. I had my factory AM/FM Stereo Delco unit out of the '76 Stingray I used to own by this guy:
http://www.wonderbarman.com/ I think he charged me $150.00 (which is CHEAP if you've ever priced some of these old STEREO Delco's!) and I didn't want to cut up any of the dash on the old Vette... Molded vinyl and what not. Anyway, the internal amp was blown and he did a complete refurb. Took about 2.5 weeks from the time it left until I got it back and it worked and looked GREAT. Highly recommend.

Re: stock radio repairs???
If you decide to take the cover off look for bad solder through connections. These connections are soldered on both sides of the circuit board and are often cracked. A hot iron and some solder will fix them up. Back in the day I fixed many Delco’s this way.
