Whats your due date?
I find that if I write down certin tasks that I wanna get done on in a given day or week in getting my truck back together it helps. I push myself to get it done, sometimes I dont get it done due to needing more parts. But sometimes I get little more done than I plan. So now Im shooting to have my truck 99% done on x-mas day. Running and driving is the plan, maybe a couple minor lose ends may need to finished up..... But thats the day Im shooting for..
Whats your day????? |

Re: Whats your due date?
Due Date? You guys that set a schedule are an inspiration to those of us who don't. My problem is procrastination. Right now, I'm procrastinating going to the body shop to see how my truck is, or isn't, coming along. So, I guess my due date is tomorrow!! Yeah, that's the ticket...go tomorrow and see how much he got done...if anything. Oh, it's only been 3 years.....

Re: Whats your due date?
My due date is Christmas. Threw a piston in my brothers truck, so I'm rebuilding it. All brand new parts. Repainting the body and lowering it. Started yesterday, but have been wanting to do it since last year.

Re: Whats your due date?
I gave up on trying to set due dates for my two projects, it seems like something keeps side tracking me.
My brother and I just finished repairing our two roofs that were damaged by the big ice storm a couple of years ago. Darn price of wood sure has gone up over the years, lol. I figure the rest of this week I will be able to spend some time putting a new carb on the '71 with the 454.

Re: Whats your due date?
My due date (for the 68 that is) was March of '09 before my son was born. Well for his first b-day he got to take his maiden ride in it, and by July of this year it was pretty close to being done. Don't think I've hardly done anything on it since July.

Re: Whats your due date?
I used to self-impose due dates on projects, but I'm just not disciplined enough to follow them. If I push through just to meet the date, I'm likely to take short-cuts just to meet the date, then end up re-doing something I truly wasn't satisfied with because I; 1. rushed it, or 2. didn't think it through enough.
Better for me to just chip away, and enjoy the project without a "deadline".

Re: Whats your due date?
I used to have due date, but four years past due now and I just don't care any more. I work on it when I'm in the mood and eventually I may actually finish it =)

Re: Whats your due date?
I tried, but found that the project became less fun than what it was intended for me.
When there are dates, I find that the spending goes up and more risks are taken. So many years ago I decided that my Suburban project was all about my own personal enjoyment, and not that of a challenge or contest to achieve something. I have been "restoring" my burb since 1995, and there are still plenty of things to do on her. The only time there is a deadline while working on my baby, is if there is a truck show coming up and I want to get one of many things done before the show. It's different if you are just restoring a truck to sell, than in my case where it is all about being a hobby.
