When installing a 4 link do you have to have shocks in order to get a nice ride? On some of the builds on this site I see that some people do not run shocks. Is the ride too hard if you are running 2600 firestone bags all the way around.

You would want to run shocks with your airbags and we also use a 9000
tapered firestone bag with our 4-bars

you ALWAYS have to run shocks to get a nice ride.
anyone running a suspension without shocks, is not running a decent suspension.

springs (be it coil, or air) hold energy. when you hit a bump, they compress, but they store that energy. when they expand, rather then go back to their orignial state, they will continue past that point, and then come back past it again and again.. aka bounce.

its the dampeners job (aka shock absorber) to absorb the energy of the compressed spring and keep it under control.

every sprung vehicle needs them. doesnt matter if its a cruiser, a driver, a drag car or a road race car... the type of dampener may change, but you still need one.

The of a bag as an "AIR SPRING" and like a coil spring, it needs a dampner (shock) to make it ride and handle well. The 2600 bag will ride too stiff in the rear. Try a pair of 9000 style tapered rolling sleave bags. Try to use shocks that have a soft compression and a firm rebound. Check out the "make it handle" thread in the Suspension forum.
