Welcome from Connecticut! Somebody here will help you out. I can tell you that you will need some cutting tools and welding equipment, be it gas, arc or mig. What do you have avalible?

Hello, sweet n rare 67 !! Welcome to the board from southern Louisiana. Rocker panels and cab corners are not "hard" to do, but they do require some skill in order to get a proper fit. Try doing a search for either and you'll have more reading material than you can shake a stick at !!!! This topic has been covered numerous times so there's plenty of info, including pics, on these subjects. Good luck and once again.... Welcome !!

I hear that it's not too bad doing the opanel replacements. I had my one bad rocker done by a guy at my wife's work cuz I didn't have a welder then. Good luck with uyour project. Show us some pictures of your truck when you can.

Welcome from ks
Rockers and corners are a piece of cake if you take your time and not weld them solid until you check and recheck them for correct fit Good luck and have fun with your truck david

If you want to see the hardest way to do it click on my link below. All my welding was done with a stick welder. I also welded in cab supports while the cab was still on the frame. Then again I've had lots of experience in the metal fabrication field and have a few more years on you (about 30). But there is always a first time for everything. Your best bet is to have someone with experience help you do it.

Welcome from North Alabama ... I replaced my rockers, inner kick panels, floor pans, lower door supports (front and rear) and cab corners last year. I had never done any work like this before either and it went pretty well. I had a friend with some experience help me and it went pretty smooth. I found the body work that follows (grinding, bondo, and block sanding) to be more difficult to get "right" than the actual welding.
Hope this helps ... and welcome to the board! |
