1980 scottsdale deluxe build

well heres the start of my build,

the truck is a 1980 scottsdale deluxe.

light half ton with a 350 engine and 4 speed tranny setup.

also is a shortbed.

i will be starting out by replacing or should i say adding all the proper smog equipment back on to the truck.

i have started digging into the interior already as ive been waiting on my parts truck to arrive for a few days now.

heres a few pics to start with more to come in a few day when i get the parts truck.

the bodys in great shape all work is done just needs wet sanded and paint to finish out. hood will be getting replaced enventually going with two inch cowl.

heres a couple of the engine. is rebuilt 350 two bolt main. will be taking it out to do a cam and intake swap and maybe new carb setup. exhaust will also be going to, new headers wih actual smog tubes with be getting put on.

blew a hole in the smog tube place driving it home, hope i didnt to to much damage, still sounds like its running good.

heres a picture of the inside, already had started tearing into it to fix a few hack job wiring areas, p/o sure liked electrical tape, mostly fixed still have radio wiring to fix and will call it good for now.

thats it for pictures for now. will have a few more when i get a chance.

not to much planned for this thing, stereo system airconditioning and new interior will be about it for inside,

outside will be new paint, maybe 2/4 drop but not sure yet, most likely trans swap and rear disk brake system. ohh and gonna do some trim too.

will have a more detailed list after i go threw the truck completly and know for sure whats gonna be needed.

just wanna keep it mostly stock with a few addons here and there nothing special for this one. atleast not anything right now.

Re: 1980 scottsdale deluxe build

if anything im gonna lower the rear, even it out but i was thinking more along the lines of a 2/4 drop, i know im putting rims on it but i still want a practical everyday truck.

I think its tack welded in there to the firewall....I tried the same thing and couldn't get it out.

Maybe someone else can say for sure.....

Re: 1980 scottsdale deluxe build

an update!!!! some more pics!!! haha got my 85 blazer last night. i was originally going to use this truck as a parts truck, but as i dug into it today i decided that im just gonna keep it and drive it. ill later sell it when im done rebuilding my 80, but for now im gonna drive the 85. i have to put the engine and a few body parts back on, and i had to buy a new fuel pump for it, hopefully tomorrow ill have it started and drive it for the first time. ill post more pictures tomorrow but for now this is all i have,

Re: 1980 scottsdale deluxe build

well a small update, the blazer is giving more trouble then i expected, ive had to rebuild the carb and put a new coil in the distributor cap. the old one was so rusted i almost decided to buy a new distributor.(probably would have if i could have afforded it) got the fuel pump on also. turned it over but it still hasnt started, so idk ima try a couple more things then if it still wont start ima just put it on cl. but bit of good news, i finally found a job. i am currently working for a man who owns like 10 buisnesses and am doing some work on his house for him. after i am finished he is going to be putting me in a shop of my own. ill be starting out just doing oil changes and tun ups but as i progress and get a bit more experiance he'll send me more well broken cars i guess haha. anyways its good because now i will beable to start a some what frame off resto on the 80. but i will be doing a bit more this weekend and hopefully have a few more updated pics up for everyone.

Re: 1980 scottsdale deluxe build

well a bit of an update again, i picked up some exhaust manifolds with smog tubes!!!! haha.

i looked up all the codes for the exhaust, intake, and block,

the exhaust on mine is off of a 75-77 chevy pickup, the intake is of a 78-85 chevy, and the block is a 85-95 chevy.

but i now have the right exhaust and i also picked up a smog pump too. now to put it all together. ill have pics up tomorrow after work.

anyways thats all for now. ohh...well the blazer doesnt run so its getting parted, well after i take what i want off it anyways haha.

Re: 1980 scottsdale deluxe build

a few small updates again,

got my dinky little radiator out, i couldnt believe how small it was compared to the four core i have for it. i will have to make some new top mounts for it. i took the water neck off and it was pretty gross in there, i got it pretty well cleaned out of the block but im still going to flush it to be safe.

im also going to replace the lower heater hose and all the sparkplugs, i will give it a tune up later but to get it going for now just doing what i need to.

heres a few pics for you all.
