Speedo gear fell into transmission HELP

So today i decided to pull the speedo gear house out because i thought it was leaking around the seal. So i disconnected the cable loosened the bolt with the clip and proceeded to pull out the housing. I then notice the speedo gear laying in the hole. so i reached up to get it and it fell into the transmission. Stuck my finger in and tried to fish it out put now i cant even feel it. WHAT SHOULD I DO? i did some looking online and saw alot of people have had this happen and said to just leave it in there. What are yor guys suggestions

well truth be told pull the DS and pop the tailshaft off the trans...its not a big deal and you'll only loose a pint of fluid...then put it back together...it more of a PIA than anything els and consider it a lesson...lmao been there

or

bend up a piece of wire and start fishing

Type of transmission may help in getting some info.

I believe that on a 350 trans you can remove the rear but on a 3 speed standard shift you will have to have professional help on that one.

Re: Speedo gear fell into transmission HELP

yes you are correct it is a powerglide. I went to Sumit Racing tonight and bought a couple thing and notice they had a cut away of a powerglide there. There is nothing realy that the gear can get sucked up into from what i saw. Hope i am right
