Newer bumpers

I am wondering if anyone is running newer bumpers on there trucks. I have been playing around with front and back bumpers off a 1987 Suburban and they seem to fit pretty well. Just looking for some ideas. Pictures? Thanks.

Re: Newer bumpers

Here’s one from a local car show. Don’t know the bumper origin. Whether it’s an improvement is a matter of opinion.

Re: Newer bumpers

I'm pretty sure the last pic is a back bumper, there is a slot that looks like its a place for a plate light. I haven't been the biggest fan of stock bumpers on these trucks but other than a 67-72 rear I haven't found a good replacement for them. I'm going to just flip the front bumper since its always apeared upside down to begin with. I know most newer bumpers are thicker (top to bottom) than ours so it lookes a little clunky on front. Also the ford bumpers from the same era are narrower by a bit. What kind of look are you going for, ever thought of using the little bumperettes like old hot rods?

Re: Newer bumpers

Thanks for the fast replys. My sub came with painted bumpers and my donor vehicle is a 1998 2-wheel drive sub so I was going to use as much of it as I can. The trial fit of the bumpers, front and rear looks very promising but as you said they are taller, thicker. Just looking to see what a finished truck looks like. Oh the 3 in. chopped turned out great.

My rear bumper always gets comments for some reason. It must be the big all steel chromed aspect. Don't know what it came off of. Just another idea for you.

Re: Newer bumpers

we have a fleet of mid 90s chevy vans and the bumper in the top pic looks pretty close to the van rear bumpers

Now that is a proper truck bumper!!!!!!!

Does it have a mfg name and/or part number? How about the width and height measurements?

thats the bumper on the front of mine now. i had to lightly modify the bolt holes but it lined up on the top holes well. the bottoms had to be cut out for the bumper to sit flush. i like the look. i'll post pics up on sunday if it is pretty.
