The Best advice
I was looking through some old articles that I’ve kept the other day and came across this one from Hot Rod.
Here’s the paragraph that I have used and remembered when it came time to find my truck and once I bought my truck I have followed this advice and it’s proven to be some of the best advice I’ve ever read and received. It’s from Terry McGean of HotRod Mag: “So many of us tear into our cars and trucks, removing and dismantling key components, or maybe even the whole car, with the intent of making it truly killer, only to waste Valuable weeks/months/years of cruise time. Projects always take longer than you anticipated, and the bigger the project, the more inaccurate your estimate will be. Take it in steps and enjoy your hot rod whenever possible, cause that’s what they’re for. Don’t worry about what the “In-crowd” does, find what you like and make it cool. I’m out having a good time even though my rig might not be “done” and it’s in Primer. Meanwhile, you had to go to the cruise in your Mom’s Toyota because your Full-on project is in pieces. Minimize down time-Take it in steps.” Absolutely, my motto for my truck as been: Minimize down time-Take it in steps. Got the engine and engine bay done over the summer. Next on the list; ShowDeck from Bruce Horkey. Should have that done and installed by February. I have scheduled for the Bench seat to get reupholstered in March. And if, for some unforeseen circumstance, none of this happens or I have to put it on hold, I’ll still be able to drive and enjoy my Truck. Minimize Down time-Take it in Steps. Follow this advice from HotRod and you'll be out cruising and having a good time.

Words of wisdom for sure, mine has a long way to go but I can still cruise it. I'm getting ready to swap from leaves to coil, I pulled the bed yesterday to start cleaning things up but I'm not pulling the rear until I have everything to get it done. I even threw some lights on the bumper and cruised it last night bedless! Although, with out the bed you really have to watch it in the rain, I was doing 4th gear rolling burnouts at half throttle doing about 50 MPH

I live by this rule...being able to drive your project while you work on it keeps you motivated.

Thats a load of bull...just get in there and start pulling it all apart. If I'd listened to this silliness 10 years ago I probably never would have embarked on what is surely the worlds most drawn out, expensive rebuild ever attempted, and...oh, I get it now.
