Painting Emblems

Hi All,
Most of the emblems on my truck, like the "Cheyenne_10", are looking pretty worn with age. Most of the white/red has gone, so I was wanting to paint them up. I was planning on getting some red/white enamel paint from the local hobby shop but thought I would ask if anyone has done this already and if so is there a better way, like spraying etc.

Any input on the colors and ways to do it would be appreciated and photo's of the completed job would be great if you have them.

I know of a better way than hobby paint, although I am just a backyard hobby guy, not an expert.
I use womens fingernail polish. it comes in a bazillion colors, including metal flake. it is in small quantities, and it is impervious to anything, and lasts just about forever.
it even comes with an application brush

I cleaned mine very nicely and made sure all the original paint was removed. Then i masked and painted all the letters with self etching bumper paint. looks good right now. haven't been on the vehicle yet or thru a car wash but i can't scratch it off.

They look great. How did you go about masking them off. Did you mask everything and then cut away the area's to be painted or just taped around the area to be painted ?
Also, is there a specific color that should be used or just a basic red/black/white?
I know there are many ways to do this but just wanted to find out about some of the techniques/tricks before diving in.

Any others out there. Can't be only 2 people that have gone through this.

i masked the whole thing and cut out them areas that needed to be painted. i just used standard red and black that the paint store had in stock.

Nice job chewychevy! I know I've been told before, but what does the 910 on your emblems mean?

However you end up doing it, I would use a good paint that will not fade. Some of these emblems are very difficult to remove from the truck. It took me forever to remove the fender emblems for a 1980 blazer and I used a cheap paint and need less to say they were faded again in 6 months.

i did clear coat them after i painted them. they turn out really shiny and the factory paint was duller i am sure but i didn't want them to fade fast either. 910 is just the model designation. a 910 is Canadian and 1500 is a US model, 920 is a 2500 and so on. i believe in 1969 they were all designated 1500 and 2500's.

I have a '68 710. At least that's what it says on the oil fill tube.
