Rubber or urethane bushings

I am getting ready to redo the suspension on my truck and am not use if I should use rubber or urethane bushings on the control arms and trailing arms. Will the truck ride real rough with urethane? I want it to be tight but not teeth rattling.

Also, where's good place to get them. Napa only sells control arm shafts and they are pricey!

It will be a more firm ride,but not really harsh.I like urethane in the suspension,but not the body mounts.

FL -= you can buy almost every bushing for these trucks in urethane
I agree - I am not a fan of urethane body mounts - just to stiff - if you just want to race the truck go for it - daily driver no thanks - they also can have a tendency to squeak more than rubber bushings

i went with urethane in the suspension and motor mounts... but not the body mounts they were still in good shape... i might change them later on... it did squeak for a little while like 1000mi but dosent any more..

I prefer rubber bushings. I have used urethane on other projects and regretted it: harsher ride and noise issues.

Same here, I have had bad luck with poly, I could not stand the noise. I have tried first dry graphite lubrication and when that didn't work, I greased everything up and it still squeaked off and on.

Rubber worked for years from the factory... I would stay with them.

I prefer urethane. I have used both but just like the feel of the urethane ones my 2 cents.

I have urethane mounts everywhere in my truck, springs, motor mounts, body mounts, T-case. They are way more durable then rubber. Rubber these days is such poor quality. I can't hear anything over the exhaust so I don't care about squeaking. I do feel the cam lope through the motor mounts at idle but it's a truck not a Cadillac.

Upper and lower control arm bushings
Sway bar bushings and end-links

when you install them, grease them, and their pins/spacers washers etc with white lithium grease. haven't had any of mine squeak... to me it doesnt feel for firm, it just feels tighter and more responsive with urethane.

urethane lasts longer and tightens up the chassis (less flex than rubber) and should be fine if properly lubricated. i replaced the rear track bar bushings on my 72 burb c20 (CPP has the larger ones for the 3/4 ton track bar). planning to get their poly graphite body mount bushings as mine are rotted and i don't want to spend lots of money on rubber. looking for (extreme) long term durability as my truck gets nothing but the best and i'm not worried about a little squeaking (no helping that on a 38 year old truck anyway).
