What I have used is that Orange degreeser from Wal-Mart. Works well on plastics full strength and is only $3 a bottle. Tuffer stains they make a product called Goo off (they usally sell the stuff in the house paints section).

I've used the Orange 409 spray cleaner and it works great! I imagine the wal-mart stuff is pretty close if not the same thing.
Spray it on, sit a few seconds and wipe it down. Wipe again with a damp rag once it's clean. Takes off grease, dirt, oil, whatever. Nice smell, no damage and no residue.

Saw a TV show recently where they were cleaning up (saving) birds that got caught in oil spills.
They were using Dawn dish soap. |

Castrol Super Clean is great -
but it will cause aluminum to powder a bit. It did that on my intake manifold. Guess it's caustic enough to eat into softer metals. Rinse with lots of water. |

Dads 72 is correct. Don't use Castrol Super Clean on alloy! A friend of mine ruined a nice set of wheels that way. I haven't tried the orange stuff yet, but I will. I've heard good things about it.
As for Dawn dishwashing liquid, That is the best stuff in the world for cleaning greasy hands I know that. Over the years my wife has bought different brands and I've found that Dawn works the best at disolving grease. |
