I am replacing window channel,felt and rubber wiper on a 72 door . Do you have to remove the vent window assembley to do this ? How do you replace the channel on the division bar ? Can someone explain the process to do this please? Thanks

The easiest way would be to remove the whole vent assembly and the clean out the channel and install the new felt.

How is the old channel held in ? I can see rivets that hold the vent window rubber . what holds the new felt ?

I plan on using some type of adhesive in mine. I do not know what held the original in I assume rivets

The division bar channel(felt at the front of window,rear of vent) is held in by rivets.I drilled the old ones out only to find that my rivet gun would not fit in the channel.So after a few minutes of haid scritchen',I cut a short piece of 1/8 tubing and put it over the rod of the rivet.It spaced the rivet head out far enough to put it in the bottom of the channel.They've been in there for 5-6 years and never had a problem.The pop rivet pulls itself down into the felt enough to clear the edge of the glass.I lubed mine with silicone and relube it about every 6 months as well as the rubber run up the back and across the top.This keeps the friction down and makes the window easier to roll up/down.

Thanks for the help . Anyone else have anymore info ? Im sorry i posted this three times . I had a problem with my computer and dint think it was going through. I am trying to help my neighbor out its his truck and he just wants to change this and not vent window seals. If i drilled out the revits it might mess the vent seal up . anyone glued them ,and what kind of glue.

The front window runs that I have replaced were held in by two pieces of metal that crimped over the felt edges. When installing new ones I use 3M trim adhesive and glue them into the bottom of the channel only. The first ones that I installed this way have been in place for over 20 years.
