Boxing in the frame ...Yes or No?
I've got a 64 step side I want to build up. I've got a 454 already built for it and "plan" to use a 700R4 tranny. This 454 is a street motor (325 -375 HP) and running 3:50 gears in the back. SO what is the consensus on if I need to box in the frame? I know it would make it stronger, but for a street driven machine do I really need it? ...THX!

In my opininion, you wouldn't need to box the frame unless you were making 2 - 3 times the horsepower you intend to make.

For the street my vote would be no.
FYI: Boxing the frame only increases strength by about 17%. |
