Removed clutch pedal, is brake pedal strong enough?

I'm swapping from a 3 speed to an auto, so I am taking out my clutch pedal. Does the brake pedal mount need be reinforced since I am taking the shaft out that runs through it's mounting point? The pic below helps for reference. Since I am removing #5 is there still enough structural integrity for the brake pedal to function properly.

Thanks for asking the question, did the same thing as you, and have been wondering awhile. Now I can sleep at night

The pedal sets are the same. An auto set will have the provision to add a clutch pedal, it will not be a problem to have the clutch rod or pedal removed. The seperate setups did not start until 73 or so- auto trucks in those years have a wider brake pedal. In these trucks they were all the same and built on the same base. Hope this helps.

Everyone listen to this guy.

Auto and standard trucks used the exact same parts. The standards simply got a clutch pedal inserted through the existing place in the assembly.

I see guys selling "auto trans" pedal assemblies for elevated prices sometimes. It makes me want to go pull about a dozen pedal assemblies, pop the clutch pedal out of them and market them as "automatic" units to make some cash.

Like he said, 73 began the different setups with the wider brake pedal on auto trucks.

This site is great, I learn something new everyday. I will have to tell my son, the mechanic, because he thought there was a difference.

Re: Removed clutch pedal, is brake pedal strong enough?

Thanks for all the help guys! I thought I would be fine, but I vaguely remembered a thread about this same topic and people saying it needed reinforcement. I couldnt find it in a search though. Thanks again for the help!
