Wiring Help

Shortly after having a cd player and speakers installed. Alot of things stopped working on the burb. Brake lights, turn signals, horn, interior lights, a/c, and back up lights to name a few. The wife and I both have checked ALL the fuses on several occasions. Not sure if all these things are linked or if its several different problems. Oh forgot to mention that the audio shop also installed and wired up my wifes front bumper turn signal lights. Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Wiring Help

yes sir. They replaced the stock radio with a kenwood cd player, all stock speakers with powerbass speakers and wired up and installed the front bumper turns.

Re: Wiring Help

My guess is they crossed something they didn't test for...and after you left there...and later when you flipped a switch or whatever, thens when it all went. Too many variables other then taking it apart and tracing it all down.

I think I'd take it back and get them to fix it?

Re: Wiring Help

Main problem with that is itsbeen one thing after the otherover the last year. Not all atonce. And the company moved to another state or something like that.

Re: Wiring Help

I do not see how the radio install could have anything to do with the rest of the stuff failing. Could just be dumb luck that they failed after the radio install.

Re: Wiring Help

what was the reason for the front turns rewire? also...is there an amplifier in the system?

you mentioned you checked all the fuses. My 1st diagnostic would be to disconnect the Kenwood from your 12V system...recheck all the fuses, then see if everything is still down or its working. The 2nd would be to disconnect the front turn signals (just removing the bulbs would disconnect the circuit?) and check everything again. If neither leads you in some sort of direction I don't know what to tell you...I'm just a "shadetree" mechanic (read: amatuer)

Re: Wiring Help

I had weird electrical gremlins in my 89 burb, especially with floor courtesy light, they all went away when I replaced my stock radio. Somehow it was backfeeding its circuit. Maybe it would help you to disconnect your radio and see what is still wrong.
