Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
I know, it looks pretty cool without a bed floor. When the cool factor wears off I think I am going to try something that I haven't seen yet. I am going to take a sheet of birch plywood (furniture grade), route out the bed strip slots, and then cover it in the bar top coating. When I install it it should look like the regular wood boards, but cost a fraction of the price. I figure it's worth a try.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
I know what you mean.. It does look freakin awesome without the bed done. I have my 68 gmc down to the frame right now getting prepped for blasting and powder coat and when I see other rolling chassis all rebuilt I think it looks better like that than the finished product! lol. It's a shamr we cover that awesome powder coated frame with all new lines and perdy stainless gas tank up!!! I'm just going to stare at mine for weeks when I get it back from the powder coater!!! lol

I just read through your build. It's too bad you are looking to sell. You'll be sorry.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
Oh yeah, I can't wait to see the rolling chassis sittin on wheels and tires, drop kit in, 5.3l sittin in front of the 4l60e, nice aluminum tank looking perdy, and everything new..... I can't wait. I'm on a limited budget so my build will take a long time but the build is the most exciting I think. The anticipation is the best. Once its all done that’s an amazing feeling too but the build part of it may be frustrating at times but when its all done and you are sitting at the car show with it looking back at the total build will be great!!!! Great build you have so far and can't wait to see more pics soon as you go further. You are building it just like I want to so its neat to see your progress.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
how are you going to hook up your a/c lines at the compressor? i have the same old air system coming but the denso compressor lines are different than what the old air system comes with.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
I'm not quite sure yet. Do you have any ideas? I was thinking about going to my local "hose man" and see what he can come up with. I know I am going to have to use Docs Blocks connectors to clear the frame. I'll post it on here when I come up with something.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
I called and talked to them and they told me to get the denso lines and send them to them and they would weld the right fittings on them. i will get it mocked up next week before i send the line too them. I pick used line up a local wrecking yard and they need to be 03 0r newer.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
I have the OEM lines for my motor, so I am hoping I can do something with those.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
What were problems you encountered with the DOD/AFM that made you delete them? Sweet built like I said before!

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
When they removed my motor from the silverado they broke the AFM connector in the back. Rather than repair the connector I just deleted the AFM. LS1tech also convinced me. They say that it creates a horrible sound when 4 cyl mode kicks in with anything but factory exhaust. There are also reports of oil usage (up to 1 quart a month) with it on. All that together just made me decide it wasn't worth the small mileage gains.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
Thanks, but it's not done yet. I feel like I still have a long way to go. I wish I could get these brake line leaks taken care of. I hate doing brake lines. I need to get my 20" wheels/tires and put in the AC system and then I'll feel like I am pretty close.

Here are the latest pics. I finally made room in the garage, so it's nice to have the old girl out of the weather.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
the fittinngs you need are under # 8 hose and # 10 hose fittings for compressor. the numbers are 06300738 and 6300739. these should let us use the standard hoses with the compressor. these should bolt right on with no block.

Re: '67 5.3L Build Thread
I only need the Docs Blocks to clear the frame since my compressor is tucked inside the frame rail a bit. If yours clears OK then you are good to go.
