TH200-4R / TH350 swap
Has anyone replaced a Th350 with a TH200-4R tranny?
How hard was it and how hard would it be for me (19 yrs. old w/ no tranny experiance)? (But we have a family friend in the tranny bussness) Did you just instal a floor shifter instead of the one on the colum and get a new steering colum (maybe a tilt one )? Aren't the main things moving the rear bracket about 6" , adjusting the trottle valve, and the shifting part? And did you buy a new one (and from where) or a used one from the treasure (junk) yard? Thanks a bunch, Michael

You can hook it to the stock colum.Lokar has an adjustable linkage that works real nice, allthough the stock will work.I have a bench in my suburban with the stock tilt.It has a 700r4.Not sure how far to move the crossmember on a 200.The tv cable must be installed and adjusted correctly.Have someone check the line pressure for the best adjustment of the tv.Depending on the lenth of the trans you need to short the driveshaft.Speedo cable may need to be longer.Putting the trans in is not a real hard job.It is the same as any trans change.

i have a 2004R tranny that i got from www.fbperformance.com it's a bolt in deal no need to shorten the driveshaft you just move the tranny crossmember back to the holes for the th400 mount position, yes you can still use the original speedo cable, you can use the original shift linkage altho i went to a lokar floor shift and a tilt steering column it's a very easy bolt in deal the only thing a little tricky is the tv cable adjustment. i definately suggest that if you"re going to go thru the hassel of changing the tranny over you go for a freash performance build up , i've got 35K miles on mine not a problem

Don't forget some sot of lock up kit for the converter. If you run it unlocked all the time it will slip excesivly in OD.
