Tips for buying a c10? pic too...

I am considering buying a 69 pickup. I'm not super familiar with these trucks so I have a few questions:

-What are the common things to look for?
-Any typical problems?

-This truck has front discs, 350 4 bolt, 700r4 trans, all with about 25k miles. Anything notable there?

-And a big one, can you please direct me to some good A/C resources? How-tos? pics? cost? Is it a single Saturday install kind of thing?
(110 degrees in the summer is a norm here, not very humid thou)

Rust in floor boards and corners.

The main thing you should check for is RUST. (cab corners,rockers,cab mounts,cab flloor,firewall,wiper motor,top of windshield rubber inside cab,etc..) You also need to look at previous repairs,damage,etc..thats just for starters. The A/C problem is not that big of a deal, I put vintage air in my 69 for around $1200. It works alot better than the factory A/C anyway. Other than body rot and shoddy repairs,make sure it runs and drives good and is mechanically sound. Good luck.

You probably want to ask about the disc.69 would have drums from the factory,so it may be a later frame or a disc conversion kit,or later crossmember(several ways to get disc).Take a good look under it for rust and in the areas mentioned.Also as stated above,pics will help us give you more input.

I bought a '70 with one of these installed by PO. Haven't gotten into summer yet, but it seems to blow a lot of really cool air. Summer will tell.

As far as AC, you'd probably be better off starting with an AC truck. And from what I see it's doesn't have AC.

The reference to the serpentine setup is similar to the comment about the disc brakes being on a '69. All that's being said (without finishing the thought) is the fact that serpentine accessory drives would not have come from the factory on the truck. Of course, looking at the picture, there are several things not "stock" about the truck. Then again, it's not unusual to find elements that have been changed out (often for the betterment of performance, comfort, or safety) on our trucks.

My truck was a non A/C truck, I filled in the firewall and used a bulkhead,cut out the dash and used factory A/C vents. You can also buy a sure fit kit from vintage air that bolts to your existing firewall hole,they also come with templates and vents. Its actually pretty easy to do.

Also, that looks almost exact like the kind of belt system on my 91 caprice, makes anything dealing with the belt A LOT easier to remove and install. that top left circle unit thing, i believe from the pic, you can just stick in a 3/4 breaker bar and pop on and off the belt

You may need to know what was used to convert to disc at some point for replacement parts.The research isn't hard to do but if you already have the info,you will not have to spend your time that way.I assume the brakes work well and are safe which is the biggest concern.The preference is usually what the builder had available or was most comfortable with.

Mostly we are just pointing out things that have been modified to give you an idea of things to look over and see if they were well done.
