Cab Question

I am going to pick up a new cab for my project this weekend, and i am wondering if anyone knows or has pictures of putting a cab in the back of a pickup. I am going from long island up to Connecticut, which involves a ferry where you have to pay by the foot for a trailer. So if i can avoid the trailer at all costs that would be great. So does anyone know how to finagle this thing into the back of my '03 Short Bed??

Re: Cab Question

I have never done it but have been told they will fit sideways. Hope so, I really dont want to tow a 2500 lb car trailer 36 hours round trip to go get my cab from Missouri!

Re: Cab Question

I put my '54 cab in the bed. You just lift it up, slide it in sideways and you're good to go. I actually fit an entire '54 truck in my buddy's truck bed haha Your new cab should fit just as well.

Re: Cab Question

The cabs will fit in the back of our trucks. I put skids under the cab so as to raise it high enough to clear the AC box.

Re: Cab Question

Yes you can fit the cab sideways in a 2003 bed with at least 4" of wood under it, ( IE: A wooden skid or pallet ) I use 6" high railroad ties myself, Don't forget the ratchet straps to hold it in place otherwise you'll find they slide front to back in the bed.

Re: Cab Question

Yes I have also seen a cab placed in the back of a shortbed 03 ish silverado. Like said before needs to be lifted up a bit to clear.

Re: Cab Question

Again can be done. I had 4x6x8's in the bed. Put the cab on top of them which made it easier to slide it in the bed. Ratching straps are a must.
Drive the speed limit or slower. I went 65 miles oneway to get mine.

Re: Cab Question

We put a 72 cab in the back of a 2002 F-150 short bed and hauled it from Meridan Ks, to Altoona, Ia. I think you can get it in there.
