Re: SBC Fan Shrouds

I might be interested in one if it will work for my application. Mine is a 4x4 but I put a 700r4 trans in and moved the motor forword 1-3/4 in. The 4x4 fan shroud is much deeper. Do you or anyone else reading this post know if this might work for me ?

Do you know if they are for A/C or non A/C trucks? I have been told there is a difference. Interested in buying one.

It would work fine if up made up the difference with the fan spacer. You want half the blade in the shroud and the other half outside. If you run a 4X4 shroud you may not be able to move the fan back far enough. I think it would be the better choice.

Let me check really fast to see if there is a difference. If there is not (or these are for A/C) I will buy one.

Re: SBC Fan Shrouds

I found out that there IS a difference. The A/C shrouds are thinner to make room for the compressor belt from what I have been told. Unfortunately I am still trying to find out what depth an A/C shroud is supossed to be. I will get back with you.

Re: SBC Fan Shrouds

I'm not 100% sure but like you say I think the AC shroud is 1 inch thinner, if my memory isn't screwed up

Re: SBC Fan Shrouds

Teeitup, I started a thread asking if there was a difference and someone said that it was indeed an inch difference, but they didn't say what the depth of one or the other was supossed to be. You wouldn't happen to know would you?

On my 72 Blazer 350 4x4 with AC it is a hair under 9 inches at the very top center from the front (radiator side) to the back of the shroud.

Thank you BBrendal, we are working on a 2wd which has the engine moved forward. Anybody got a 2WD sitting in their garage?

Re: SBC Fan Shrouds

No one is responding to my thread anymore. One guy that did respond showed where LMC sells two different versions one for A/C and one for non A/C. I have what I believe is a busted up A/C shroud in my shed I will try to measure it and tell you the dimensions.

TTT Not sure of the difference if any on a AC truck. These I know are off non AC trucks. Still for sale.
